SchoolCentra is an independent service that helps families research schools in England. This page explains important limitations on the information we publish.

Not an official government or Ofsted service

SchoolCentra is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Department for Education (DfE), Ofsted, local authorities, or individual schools unless we clearly state otherwise. Official sources remain the authoritative place for statutory notices, inspection reports, and admissions decisions.

Public dataset information

Much of the school information on SchoolCentra is compiled from official public datasets such as Get Information about Schools (GIAS) and Ofsted open data. We refresh data on a regular schedule, but:

• source data may be updated by government bodies before we republish it;
• imports, matching, or display may contain errors or omissions;
• derived summaries (for example inspection headlines) are presented for convenience and may simplify complex official reports.

Always check the original source and the school's own website before making important decisions.

School-submitted and claimed content

Schools that claim or manage a profile may publish their own content, such as policies, term dates, contact details, and news. This content is the responsibility of the publishing school. We do not guarantee that school-submitted information is complete, current, or suitable for every purpose.

Not admissions or legal advice

SchoolCentra is an information tool. It does not provide admissions advice, legal advice, or guarantees about school places. Admission rules, catchment areas, and eligibility criteria are set by schools and local authorities. Contact them directly for binding information.

Maps, distances, and third-party services

Maps, walking distances, and similar features are provided for general guidance. Routes, travel times, and locations may differ in practice. Third-party services used on the site are subject to their own terms and accuracy limits.

No warranty

SchoolCentra is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties that the site or its content will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.

Reporting errors

If you spot incorrect school information, please tell us via the Feedback button on the site or our contact form. We investigate reports and correct confirmed errors as soon as we reasonably can.
